In 2010 thirty two apprentices from Western Power Distribution spent four days at the Barn Owl Trust undertaking their community project. They undertook two major projects whilst they were here – building a riverside pathway and building an aviary for 43 Tawny Owls and 2 Barn Owls! The new residents came from the Three Owls Bird Sanctuary in Rochdale, which had been forced to close.
